Having a baby is one of the most memorable times in life, and at KSB, we know that every mother and baby deserve the utmost in care. From prenatal care to labor and delivery, you and your baby’s health and safety are our top priority. Our birthing suites allow mothers to remain in the same room for all stages of the birthing process and offer comfortable amenities for your birthing support person as well. All rooms are equipped with a spacious recliner, refrigerator, and oversized individual shower.

Our skilled and compassionate staff help to make The BirthPlace at KSB an excellent place for mothers and families. Our experienced team of Obstetricians provides the best patient care by forming a close connection with each of our Mothers-to-be. In addition, we also offer a Warm Line – (815) 288-MOMS – a 24-hour direct line to The BirthPlace, for any questions about mom or baby after discharge.

Childbirth Education

At KSB Hospital, we believe pregnancy is a special time in the life of a woman – a time for pampering and loving care. It is also time for learning about childbirth and infant care. With that in mind, we promote childbirth education classes for the expectant mother and her family. Whether you are in the early months of pregnancy or still in the planning stages, KSB can help you learn all you need to know! Breastfeeding Support

We believe that every mother should be informed about the benefits of breastfeeding and respect to make her own choice. Our certified Lactation Consultants help guide and support mothers through their breastfeeding journey by offering prenatal, inpatient, and postpartum lactation consults.

Every mother who gives birth at KSB receives a home visit by a registered nurse and lactation consultant who provides additional breastfeeding support at that visit, if needed. For breastfeeding questions, please call (815) 285-5641 to speak with one of our lactation specialists. 

In addition, we are pleased to announce our new Outpatient Lactation Clinic. Our two experienced nurses/lactation consultants are skilled in helping mothers with breastfeeding or pumping questions, milk supply issues, latching issues, newborn weight gain concerns, maternal and neonatal separation, tongue and lip ties, and much more!
