About Your Stay

We’re confident in our ability to provide the highest quality care to our patients. In fact, we back our services with a guarantee. Our guarantee is simply this: “If you’re not satisfied with any of our services, we’ll do our best to correct the situation to your satisfaction.”

  • Visiting hours 
    While sometimes the number of visitors may be limited depending on a patient’s condition, KSB Hospital generally observes an open policy toward the number of visitors patients may have, and their length of stay. Visiting hours vary by unit, but general visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please check with your nurse for specific hours in your unit.
  • Chaplain 
    Providing for your spiritual and emotional needs is very important to us at KSB Hospital. We invite you and your family to request a visit from your own minister, from the KSB Chaplain, or from one our local “on call” Chaplains who are available 24 hours a day. The hospital Chapel is located on the first floor across from the Gift Shop and is available for use at any time.
  • Gift Shop 
    The hospital Gift Shop is open daily for your convenience. Snacks, beverages, and a wide variety of gift items are available for your enjoyment.
  • Customer Service 
    We guarantee that your food will be good, the staff friendly and professional, your room clean, and more. If you find that our service does not meet hospital standards, feel free to discuss the matter with any staff member. If your complaint is not adequately addressed, you are invited to call a Patient Relations Specialist at ext. 5525 at any time during your stay. Upon returning home, you can call this office directly at 815-285-5525. The Patient Relations Specialist will work to remedy the situation and satisfy your concerns. If appropriate, a credit reflecting the nature of your complaint may be made to your account. Physician services and medical outcome are not covered under this program, but we urge you to discuss any concerns with your personal physician at any time.
  • Your room 
    Your hospital room is cleaned daily by a member of the housekeeping staff. If you have special concerns or requests, please inform your nurse. Most beds in the hospital can be repositioned using a control located at the side of your bed. Your nurse will instruct you on how to use the controls when you are admitted to your room. While in your room, you may call for a personal nursing visit by pressing an individual call button on your bed. All patient bathrooms are equipped with an emergency pull alarm.
  • Contact 
    While in the hospital, we know it’s important for loved ones to be able to contact you. Friends and family can call the KSB Switchboard at 815-288-5531 and ask for you by name. If needed, please contact your nurse for a Teletypewriter (TTY) device which allows hearing-impaired patients to communicate by telephone.   Volunteers deliver mail and floral arrangements throughout the day. A complimentary copy of the Dixon Telegraph is delivered daily.

  • Meals 
    Your diet, like your medication, is extremely important in resuming a healthy lifestyle. Hospital dietitians will work with your physician to ensure that you receive proper meals, according to your medical needs. You will receive a menu with your breakfast tray to be filled out daily for the following day’s meals. Food may be intended as a thoughtful gift, but certain foods may interfere with your medications or tests. Please check with your nurse before eating anything brought to you by visitors. Visitors may dine with you in your room. Forms for ordering reasonably-priced guest trays are available in your room.
  • Cafeteria 
    The hospital cafeteria is located on the basement level. Meals are served at the following times:
  • Breakfast (weekdays) from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Breakfast (weekends) from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m
  • Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Limited items are available between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Vending machines and a microwave are located outside the cafeteria on the basement level. Coffee is always available in the cafeteria and on each floor. Complimentary coffee and rolls are provided in the surgical waiting area on weekday mornings.
  • Valuables 
    When you are admitted, you will be asked to store any valuables you have with you, such as jewelry or money, in our security safe in the Cashier’s Office. If you wish to place a valuable in the safe, inform your nurse.
  • Personal Items 
    We recommend that you have your own personal items and hygiene items with you during your stay at KSB. Items such as: radios, hair dryers, electric shavers or any other electrical appliances are not permitted in patient rooms unless they have been inspected and approved by the Plant Operations Department.
