Welcome New Team Member Katie Wilkinson, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC
Please join us in welcoming Katie Wilkinson, who will work as a liaison between primary care, endocrinology, and the KSB Center for Diabetes Management.
Katie will be helping to educate patients and improve diabetes management in the community. As someone who has gone through the experience of diagnosis, treatment, and living day to day with an endocrine disorder, Katie understands the feeling of helplessness when a person doesn’t have total control over their body. For this reason, she felt drawn to the field of endocrinology.
“Unfortunately for many patients, these disorders impact daily life and are lifelong,” says Wilkinson. “Having personal insight allows me to help empower patients, so we can work together as a team to regain control of their lives.”
Katie grew up in Rock Falls, but apart from moving away to pursue more education, she has always come back to live in the area. While away, Katie earned her Master’s and Doctoral Nursing Degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also completed a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Traineeship in community health that emphasized the unique clinical needs of underserved populations.
In her new role, Katie looks forward to helping cultivate an individualized and non-judgmental patient experience that helps support and empower the KSB community. “We hope to be able to expand and serve more patients, both in the clinic and as an outreach in the community,” says Wilkinson. “We want patients to feel confident that they have our support no matter where they are or what they are going through.”
Kim Hudson, Director of Clinic Operations, feels that the KSB Medical Group is fortunate to have Katie join Dr. Jamil’s practice to help expand care to more patients. “With her passion for diabetes education, we are also incredibly lucky to have her rebuild and care for the patients that have diabetes.”
