Tessa Lohse Honored with Fall DAISY Award
It’s not uncommon for Emergency Room nurses to face difficult situations throughout their shifts. However, the compassion and generosity that Registered Nurse Tessa Lohse showed to one of her pediatric patients and their family went well above the normal call of duty as a nurse.
During the course of her patient’s visit, a heartbreaking diagnosis of cancer was delivered. In addition to being worried about the health of their child, the parents were also concerned about not having transportation or a place to stay at the new healthcare facility. Without hesitation, Tessa began to help by advocating for assistance with transportation costs and gas cards, and making multiple phone calls to help arrange a room at the Ronald McDonald house.
Her actions merited two DAISY nominations from fellow nurses in her department. One nominator wrote, “Tessa jumped in to do anything she could to help this family. She exemplifies the qualities of caring and compassion we all strive for at KSB.”
Congratulations to Tessa on this very well-deserved award. Thank you for showing such kindness in a very emotional situation.
