KSB’s OB/GYN Team Welcomes Dr. Christine Doyle

Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital has an exceptional roster of obstetric and gynecology (OB/GYN) physicians that serve women’s health in the Sauk Valley region. When Dr. Shirley Stone retired near the end of 2019, a big hole in women’s health care needed to be filled.

“Our objective was to build a world-class women’s health team for patients in our community.  We felt it was important for women to have an amazing female physician as an option for women’s health care locally,“ said KSB Physician Recruiter and Foundation Director, Ryan Miller. “We also felt it was important to bring a physician that shared KSB’s values and has a demonstrated track record of excellence in patient care.”

Miller’s work has paid off. In early June, Dr. Christine Doyle, MD, Ph.D., starts her practice at KSB Hospital. Currently practicing at DuPage Medical Group in Elmhurst, IL, Dr. Doyle embraces the concept of taking care of patients over a lifetime.

Born in Oak Forest, IL, a southwest Chicago suburb, Doyle currently resides in LaGrange, IL. Although the physical distance between Dixon and the Chicago suburbs is not long, the lifestyle between the two is quite different.

As a doctor who values long-term care and relationships with her patients, practicing in a large medical group with many locations has its challenges. “Patient care can be impersonal at times,” said Dr. Doyle. “A doctor meets and starts a relationship with patients only to lose many of those relationships when the doctor is moved to another location.” Her practice in northwest Illinois will not have that challenge.

“I wanted a practice that felt more permanent. Where there’s a need for my services. A smaller community means having the ability to get to know everyone, both patients and the medical community. I’m looking forward to getting to know the other physicians and staff I’ll be working with,” Doyle continues.

Dr. Doyle received her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2011. Her residency took place at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, San Antonio, TX 2011-2015. Doyle has been serving and caring for patients in Elmhurst, IL since 2015.

She joins the KSB Obstetrics and Gynecology team of Dr. William Long, DO, Dr. Robb Rydzynski, DO, Courtney Duffy, CNM, and Bridgette Woodall, NP.

KSB obstetrics physicians look forward to working with Dr. Doyle. Doctors Robb Rydzynski and William Long remarked, “Our practice conducted an extensive search to find the physician that had both the technical skills and shared values to serve the women of our community, and it’s clear Dr. Doyle was a perfect match. We know she had many options in her search and we are thrilled that she chose to join the KSB Family.”

Her practice will offer expert care for the full spectrum of women’s health needs including pre-natal, pregnancy and post-partum care, family planning and birth control, infertility, routine wellness care, menopause, menstrual conditions, and a new service for KSB, Nexplanon–a contraceptive implant. Doyle’s contraception counseling services is an added strength being added to KSB’s slate of women’s health care services.

Moving to Dixon with Dr. Doyle, is her husband, Vince Miller. Miller currently is a school psychologist and member of the National Guard. His National Guard duties have him busy while deployed working on the pandemic crisis.

Dr. Doyle shares her philosophy of care, “I am dedicated to evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care. I believe that each patient should understand her diagnosis, care, and treatment plan, and play an active role in her care. I am committed to patient education. I hope to provide my patients with the same care I would want for my own mother and sister.”
