KSB Welcomes Eyad Karzoun, MD, Pulmonologist

A warm welcome to Dr. Karzoun as he joins the team at the KSB Specialty Clinic. “We are incredibly excited to have Dr. Karzoun join us,” says Director of Specialty Clinics Kim Hudson. “Pulmonology is a very important service for our patients, and we are honored to have a skilled and experienced pulmonologist like him join the team.”

After graduating from the University of Aleppo School of Medicine in 2004, Dr. Karzoun began his residency in Internal Medicine at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, in 2007. During this time, his interest in the pulmonology field was sparked. Because West Virginia had the highest rate of people who smoke, most of his patients suffered from related diseases such as lung disease. This prompted Dr. Karzoun to pursue a Pulmonary Fellowship in 2010 to provide help and treatment to this group of patients, including critically ill patients in the Critical Care Unit.

Moving to New York City for a year of Critical Care fellowship in 2012, Dr. Karzoun began practice in 2013 in Belleville, IL, followed by a few years in St. Louis, then on to the Chicagoland area in 2017.

Dr. Karzoun will offer his services at KSB two weeks per month while maintaining his current practice. He will treat areas of particular interest to him, including lung diseases such as asthma and COPD, chronic lung infections, idiopathic lung diseases like sarcoidosis and pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancers and critical conditions requiring admission to the ICU.

“I am impressed with the warm, familial atmosphere that I felt at KSB and am looking forward to working with everyone, says Dr. Karzoun. “Many lung diseases require teamwork with other medical specialties like cardiology and other healthcare workers like respiratory therapists and pulmonary rehab. It is important to keep the team mentality and work with other providers on diagnostic and treatment plans to deliver the best care to the patient.”
