Foot & Ankle Department Hosting Book Drive for Local Nursing Homes

After a successful First Aid Kit drive, which wrapped up at the end of June, the KSB Foot & Ankle team has selected their next community service project where they will be collecting large print books to donate to area nursing homes.

The idea stemmed from Foot & Ankle Scheduler, Leila Mummert. Leila knew how hard the pandemic was for those in rehabilitation centers and nursing homes throughout the community, and that many residents found comfort in having new reading materials available to them. As the cooler fall and winter weather approaches, many residents need activities to keep them occupied indoors. She felt that the Foot & Ankle team would be able to make a big difference by providing them with books and DVDs.

Donation boxes will be available at the Foot & Ankle Center, KSB Cafeteria, and entrances to both Town Square Centre and Commerce Towers. They are asking for donations of new and used large print books and Reader’s Digest magazines, as well as family-friendly DVDs. If you would like to purchase books from Amazon, you can have them shipped directly to the Foot & Ankle Department at 215 E. First Street.

The team’s goal is to collect 250 books and DVDs by September 10th and divide the donations up between local nursing home facilities. Let’s help our Foot & Ankle family reach their goal!
