Exciting Purchase For KSB

KSB Hospital to Purchase Historic Midland States Bank Building in Downtown Dixon.

Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital today announced its purchase of the Midland States Bank building in downtown Dixon. The historic building at the corner of Galena Avenue and First Street was completed ca. in 1914 for Dixon National Bank and is the tallest and one of the best known buildings in Dixon.

“We’re proud to purchase the historic bank building and add it to KSB’s footprint in downtown Dixon,” said David Schreiner, President and CEO of KSB Hospital. “Midland States Bank has been a good neighbor to us downtown, and we look forward to our continued relationship.”

KSB also announced that the building will be dedicated and renamed in honor of the Lovett Family, including Donald R. Lovett, the first male board member at KSB Hospital and a longtime Dixon National Bank president, and Jeffrey A. Lovett, former market president of Midland States Bank. A member of the Lovett family has been working out of the historic bank building for more than 7 decades before Jeff Lovett passed away in 2016.  As bank leaders, the Lovetts were regular partners in financing KSB Hospital growth and improvement projects through the last several decades.

“We couldn’t think of a more fitting tribute to the Lovett family, who have been so dedicated to the community, to local banking, and to this historic building than renaming the building in their honor,” said Schreiner.

The building will be dedicated to their honor and will be renamed KSB Lovett Center.

Leon Holschbach, President and Chief Executive Officer of Midland States Bancorp, Inc., said “Don and Jeff Lovett worked tirelessly on behalf of the Dixon community and their efforts will long be remembered. KSB and Midland also have a long history of partnering together in the communities we serve.  KSB dedicating this building to the Lovetts is a terrific way to honor everything the Lovett family has stood for and Midland is proud to be involved in this effort.”

Under the terms of the sale, Midland States Bank staff will continue to occupy the second and third floors of the building. KSB will occupy the basement, first, fourth and fifth floors.  Some staff and departments from the Financial Division will be relocated to the building.  The move will make space available for patient care use in the hospital annex and in Town Square Centre.

“I’m most excited about our new convenient patient service offerings that will be on the main floor. We’ll have an easy access customer service center for billing, records, and the patient advocate,” said Schreiner.  “We’ll also have a wonderful new space for KSB Community Wellness that will be a perfect place for community events and health and lifestyle enhancement classes.
