Abby Zenaida Retires After Two Decades of Dedication
After twenty years as part of KSB’s dietary team, Abby Zenaida will say farewell at the end of December. Abby began her career in Dietary as a Morning Cook, a role she held for 13 years. Over time, she expanded her responsibilities to include Café Server and Evening Cook before transitioning to the role of Purchaser.
In this position, Abby has played a key role in the department. She has managed the ordering of supplies, handled yearly inventory, kept track of temperature sheets, thermometers, and Function Sheet, and stepped in to help whenever needed. “One of Abby’s biggest accomplishments has been to save our food cost by sending in rebates equaling around $1,000 per year,” shared Dietary Director Linda Setchell.
Reflecting on her two decades at KSB, Abby notes that while the dietary department has seen many new faces over the years, the team’s core has remained strong. She fondly remembers her initial interview, where she expressed her desire to retire from KSB, a goal she will now achieve. Abby credits the supportive environment created by Linda Setchell and staff for making it easy to come to work each day and for the fun they have had together.
Among her favorite memories, Abby particularly enjoyed cooking on Easter, coloring hard and soft-boiled eggs, and sending stickers up with patient meals. She also cherished activities like Bowling for Junior Achievement. As she looks forward to retirement, her plans are simple: “Do what I want when I want.”
“I have enjoyed working with Abby for the last 19 years! She has been dependable, hardworking, and willing to do anything that comes our way. She is an amazing person, and I am very fortunate to call her my friend,” fondly noted Linda.
