KSB Board of Directors Welcomes Two New Members

new-board-membersThe KSB Hospital Board of Directors welcomed two new members this January 1st. Chris Hammitt and David Hellmich, PhD,  replaced Joan Melzer and Bill LeFevre who retired from the board at the end of the 2016.

Chris Hammitt is a State Farm Agent in Dixon, who has been in the insurance industry for over 28 years. He very active in the community, holding many leadership positions within the Dixon area. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with Chris on several different community organizations,” explained CEO Dave Schreiner. “I’m always impressed with his vision and how he goes about executing that vision.”

With him, Chris brings a depth of knowledge of the health insurance world, filling a void in the Board that has not been met for some time. The last Board Member with experience in the insurance industry was Dale Presley, who served from 1988-2006.

The second addition to the KSB Board of Directors is David Hellmich, PhD. Dr. Hellmich was named president of Sauk Valley Community College in April of 2015 and has held senior level administration positions in higher education for over 20 years. David is the spouse of KSB Clinical Psychologist, Linda Hellmich.

“I’m very excited about David joining the KSB Board. As someone who is newer to the Dixon community, it will be a great asset to have an outside perspective and fresh set of eyes among us,” noted Dave Schreiner.

David is also very heavily involved in the community, something he is very passionate about. He is a member of the Sterling Rotary and the Dixon Chamber Board, to name a few. A native of Greensburg, Indiana, David commented that moving to Dixon was like coming home, as the two mid-western communities are very similar in size and feel.

While it will be impossible to replace Bill LeFevre and Joan Melzer, the two new board members hold promise for a strong Board of Directors, top to bottom, in 2017!
