The Cardiovascular Services Lab at KSB first opened its doors on June 18, 2006. Patients at KSB have taken advantage of the extensive cardiac care now available close to home, and have helped make the Cath Lab a strong department of the hospital.
The number of Cardiac Catheterizations performed at KSB greatly surpasses the number initially estimated for the lab. Instead of traveling to Rockford, Chicago, or the Quad Cities for cardiac procedures, patients can now stay at KSB for cardiac care.
The lab boasts technology like the Phillips Allura Xper FD20 X-ray system, which supports efficient cardiac and vascular diagnostics while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
The staff and physicians of the Cardiovascular Lab provide cardiac diagnostic angiograms and interventions (angioplasty and stents) and peripheral diagnostic angiograms and interventions.
KSB Hospital added a new, state-of-the-art, Cardio and Pulmonary Rehab facility in 2009 to better accommodate patients’ rehabilitation needs. The rehabilitation area is a large, open space overlooking the beautiful Rock River and offers modern rehab equipment like treadmills and weight machines. More than the quality equipment and the breathtaking view, however, is the excellent service provided by a friendly and enthusiastic staff of four nurses and a respiratory therapist.
KSB Hospital’s Cardio and Pulmonary Rehab staff prides themselves on providing a friendly, stress-free environment for patients to effectively and comfortably complete their rehabilitation exercises. Thanks to the close proximity between physician offices and the Cardio and Pulmonary Rehab Center, patients get the opportunity to experience close interactions with the therapist, nurses, and physicians. In addition to providing rehabilitation services, the rehab staff educates their patients on diet, nutrition, and medication to promote healthy rehabilitation and overall wellness.
