Message from Darryl Vandervort The last year has seen significant growth within and outside the walls of KSB. The most visible evidence of our growth is the ongoing construction project that will significantly increase the size of our emergency room and outpatient surgical area. The walls are up, the roof is on and the finishing work is beginning. When the project is done in late 2011, KSB will have doubled the square footage of the Emergency Room and Outpatient Surgery Departments. Next door, at our Commerce Towers building, we opened a new Cardiology Department that is as comprehensive as any in the Sauk Valley. It includes the offices of our three full-time cardiologists as well as state-of-the-art testing and diagnostic facilities and a complete cardiac rehab area with all of today’s modern equipment. Now our cardiac patients can receive first-class care right in Dixon. At the same time, we are making strides inside the hospital. Our Medical Imaging Department began using cutting-edge digital mammography equipment in 2009, providing our patients with enhanced diagnostics and shorter exam times. They now receive better, faster results with less anxiety and shorter wait times. Our medical staff continues to grow and excel. Over the past year, we added two family practice physicians at Town Square Centre and a new psychiatrist and an infectious disease specialist to KSB Medical Group. We also are in the process of recruiting a neurologist, a vascular surgeon and a urologist. As we expand our medical staff, KSB will be able to offer more complete services to a growing local population. Finally, as 2009 came to a close, KSB learned of several achievements, including Dr. Risha Raven’s award as Illinois Family Physician of the Year. We received the Arbor Award for Highest Overall Satisfaction for Medical Office Patients, meaning our physicians and staff are exceeding the expectations of our patients. And our most current Employee Satisfaction Survey shows that our staff finds KSB to be a very rewarding and fulfilling place to pursue their healthcare careers. We are proud of the fact that KSB is the best place for our patients to receive care, the best place for our physicians to practice, and the best place for our employees to work. KSB is what’s right in healthcare.

About KSB

In addition to medical care, sound leadership and management are critical parts of any good hospital. At KSB Hospital, our mission and vision are put into action every day by an Administrative team, a Board of Directors and the Medical Staff. These leaders oversee the hospital’s operations and make values-based decisions that are consistent with our mission.
A sage once said, “change is inevitable, growth is intentional.” How prescient that comment, made over a century ago, has proven to be. Here at KSB Hospital, we have elected to take the path of growth to better serve our community of patients.
