In addition to medical care, sound leadership and management are critical parts of any good hospital. At KSB Hospital, our mission and vision are put into action every day by an Administrative team, a Board of Directors and the Medical Staff. These leaders oversee the hospital’s operations and make values-based decisions that are consistent with our mission.

Message from Dave Schreiner

On April 1, 2011 I had the honor of becoming the 23rd President and Chief Executive Officer of Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital. In this long line of distinguished leaders, beginning in 1897, my personal favorite happens to be #22, the recently retired Darryl Vandervort.

Our new Administration inherits an organization with a history of outstanding service to the communities we serve. A strong Board of Directors, a stable administrative team, an outstanding medical staff, wonderful volunteers and our more than 1,000 employees position us well for continuing success.

KSB’s goal is simply to become the best place for patients to receive care, the best place for physicians to practice medicine, and the best place for employees to work.

Storm clouds are visible on the healthcare horizon. Federal reform, state fiscal challenges, increasing expenses and physician shortages are but some of the issues facing our complex industry.

I prefer to side with Dixon’s favorite son, Ronald Reagan, who stated:

“Each generation goes further than the generation preceding it because it stands on the shoulders of that generation.”

For the last 114 years, the people of KSB Hospital have worked hard to make us who we are today. We’re lucky to have such strong shoulders to stand on. We look forward to the challenge of meeting and exceeding your expectations in the years to come.
